Wat Choum Khong Sourin Tharame

Wat Choum Khong Sourin Tharame is marked by two stone-sculpted Chinese figures that stand as guardians at the entrance. Founded in eighteen forty-three by Phakhu Keo during the reign of King Sukaseum, the monastery takes its name—the Monastery of the Core of the Gong—from a local legend. This story suggests that the central Buddha image inside the main hall was cast using metal from the raised center of a bronze gong.
