The Xieng Thong Dock is a wide, steep ceremonial staircase that descends directly from the temple grounds of Wat Xieng Thong to the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Historically, this riverbank landing functioned as the primary gateway to the royal capital of Luang Prabang for arriving dignitaries, foreign envoys, and monarchs.
