Wat Pa Huak, the Monastery of the Thornless Bamboo Forest, stands at the foot of Mount Phousi. The structure features an elaborate wooden porch on its facade with a central carving of the Hindu god Indra riding the three-headed elephant, Airavata. Phaya Si Mahanam founded the temple in eighteen sixty-one during the reign of King Chantharath, and the architecture reflects a blend of Lao, Thai, and Vietnamese styles.
