Wat Siphoutthabat Thippharam sits at the base of Mount Phousi, recognizable by a prominent golden chedi near the front of the ordination hall. The name translates to the Temple of the Buddha’s Footprint, a reference to a sacred impression in rock located on the nearby mountain. This site was formed in nineteen fifty-seven by combining three earlier monastic grounds, though the main hall itself was rebuilt in eighteen fifty-one to honor a diplomatic mission sent to Kunming by King Chantharath.
