Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory

The three-story administrative building at four Lipowa Street stands as a remnant of the former Deutsche Emailwarenfabrik, a factory once used to produce enamelware, mess kits, and ammunition shells. Established in nineteen thirty-seven by three Jewish entrepreneurs under the name Rekord, the site was confiscated in nineteen thirty-nine after the German invasion of Poland. Oskar Schindler, a Sudeten German industrialist, took over the plant and transformed it into a site that eventually employed over one thousand Jewish workers who were otherwise destined for extermination.
