The New Jewish Cemetery on Miodowa Street is marked by a long wall of red brick and weathered iron fencing that separates the quiet, tree-lined grounds from the city streets. Established in eighteen hundred on land purchased from the Augustinian order, it became the primary burial ground for Kraków’s Jewish community when the historic Remuh Cemetery could no longer accommodate new interments. It contains thousands of gravestones and serves as a resting place for rabbis, artists, and prominent residents from two centuries of city life.
