The Czartoryski Museum is defined by the stone-walled arsenal and palace buildings that once formed part of the city’s defensive fortifications. Founded in seventeen ninety-six by Princess Izabela Czartoryska, it began in the family estate of Puławy as a sanctuary for Polish heritage. The Princess gathered relics and artworks to preserve a sense of national identity while the country faced political partition and turbulence.
