Rynek Główny is a vast, open square spanning nearly four hectares at the center of Kraków. You can identify it by the long, arched Cloth Hall that sits in the middle, and the distinctive tower of the former town hall nearby. Laid out in twelve fifty-seven following the city's charter, the square was designed as a central marketplace at the crossing of ancient trade routes.
