The railway viaduct and the surrounding cut, known as the Przekop Talowskiego, appear as a heavy, stone-lined trench that carries the street level down beneath the tracks. Built between eighteen ninety-six and eighteen ninety-eight, this structure resolved the chronic traffic congestion on Lubicz Street, which previously crossed the railway line at the same grade. By lowering the road surface and carrying the trains on a new bridge supported by sixteen stone columns, it created the first two-level traffic intersection in Kraków.
