Father Bernatek’s Bridge

The Father Bernatek Footbridge is a steel arch spanning the Vistula River, recognizable by the nine bronze acrobats suspended above its walkway. Opened in two thousand ten, the structure connects the Kazimierz district to the historic Podgórze area. It stands upon the masonry abutments of the nineteenth-century Podgórski Bridge, which was dismantled in nineteen twenty-five and left the city without this direct river crossing for decades.
