The Gazownia Miejska, or Municipal Gasworks, occupies the block at Ulica Gazowa sixteen in the Kazimierz district. Built between eighteen fifty-six and eighteen fifty-seven by the German Continental Gas Association from Dessau, this site represents the first permanent source of gas lighting for Kraków. The facility was designed by the German engineer Seizig, and its first director was Konrad Voss.
