Monument to the Ghetto Heroes

The Monument to the Ghetto Heroes stands as a tall, grey stone wall, eleven meters high, positioned on a wide platform. A striking bronze high-relief sculpture is set into its center, depicting a group of fighters led by Mordechai Anielewicz, who holds a grenade in his hand. The monument is clad in slabs of Swedish labradorite, a stone that had been originally ordered by the Nazi minister Albert Speer in nineteen forty-two for planned monuments to Hitler’s victory.
