The Warsaw Uprising Monument on Krasiński Square features a massive, ten-meter bronze tableau that captures the intensity of the nineteen forty-four rebellion. Designed by sculptor Wincenty Kućma and architect Jacek Budyń, the installation depicts a group of Polish insurgents emerging from a collapsing, abstract structure. At the base of the composition, figures are shown climbing into a sewer, a detail that commemorates the dangerous underground routes used by the resistance to evacuate the Old Town during the German occupation.
