The Baluarte de Santa Lucía is the largest bastion within the fortified walls of Dalt Vila, the old town of Ibiza. You can identify this massive structure by its wide, asymmetrical footprint and the original cannons still resting along its edge, pointing toward the harbor below. It was designed in fifteen seventy-five by the Swiss military engineer Giovan Giacomo Paleari Fratino to strengthen the city's defenses against Mediterranean pirate attacks.
