Sa Portella

Sa Portella stands as the last surviving medieval gate into the walled citadel of Dalt Vila. While massive sixteenth-century Renaissance walls define the modern silhouette of the old town, this smaller, modest stone opening provides a direct connection to an earlier era. It predates the surrounding fortifications, originating from the medieval town that existed long before the current bastion system was engineered to repel naval threats.
