Shakespeare

The Shakespeare on Fountain Street is distinguished by a black-and-white, timber-framed exterior that sets it apart from the surrounding city buildings. While it occupies its current place in Manchester, the structure itself was built in the city of Chester in sixteen fifty-six. It spent nearly three centuries there as a building known as the Shambles before it was dismantled and transported forty miles to its present location in nineteen twenty-eight.
