Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral is recognized by the oldest stone spire in England, a feature that has defined the skyline since twelve thirty. It holds a unique position in the Church of England as the only place that serves as both a cathedral for the diocese of Oxford and a private chapel for an Oxford University college. The institution originated as the priory church of Saint Frideswide, the patron saint of Oxford, and traces its roots back to an eighth-century nunnery.
