All Souls College

All Souls College is identified by the two imposing Gothic towers that rise above its gateway on the High Street, standing near the corner of Catte Street. Founded in fourteen thirty-eight by Archbishop Henry Chichele and King Henry the Sixth, the college was originally established as a memorial for those who perished in the Hundred Years’ War. Its full name, the College of All Souls of the Faithful Departed, reflects this primary mission to provide constant prayer for the souls of soldiers and founders alike.
