Laird Hatters

Laird Hatters sits inside twenty-eight Cornmarket Street, a structure with timber framing and stone that reaches back more than seven centuries. It is widely considered the oldest private residence in Oxfordshire, surviving through centuries of city changes and multiple renovations. A major restoration in nineteen fifty revealed medieval plasterwork hidden behind later nineteenth-century layers, exposing a fine angle post with original carvings that had been concealed for generations.
