Polar Bear Gifts occupies a building that once served as a Woolworth’s department store. You can still spot evidence of this history in the front doors, which retain the Woolworth name, and in some of the shopping baskets used by customers today. The store operates as a family-run business that has been part of downtown Anchorage for nearly thirty years.
