Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, famously called the Jewel of Little Italy, is distinguished by its classic Spanish-style architecture and its connection to the city's maritime history. Founded in nineteen twenty-one by Father Sylvester Rabagliati, the parish was established to serve the Italian immigrant community, which was composed largely of fishermen from Genoa and Sicily.
