Museum of the African Diaspora

The Museum of the African Diaspora occupies the first three floors of the St. Regis Museum Tower, identifiable by its glass façade that features a large, shimmering mural of a child's face. This institution opened in two thousand five as the result of a city mandate to include an African-American cultural presence on the final vacant parcel of the Yerba Buena Gardens complex.
