One hundred one California Street is a forty-eight-story office tower in the Financial District, immediately recognizable by its cylindrical shape and faceted granite and glass exterior. Completed in nineteen eighty-two, the building stands six hundred feet tall and features a seven-story glass-enclosed atrium base that sits above a granite plaza. Its design, the work of architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, presents a geometry that sets it apart from the rectangular skyscrapers surrounding it in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
