Blue Heron Lake Boathouse

park garden

The Blue Heron Lake Boathouse is a single-story structure with an alpine chalet design that sits on the edge of the largest body of water in Golden Gate Park. Constructed between nineteen forty-six and nineteen forty-nine, the building replaced an original eighteen ninety-three rustic boathouse that was destroyed by fire. Its current appearance is intended to blend with the surrounding natural landscape, including the wooded Strawberry Hill island that rises from the center of the twelve-acre, doughnut-shaped lake.
