Outside Lands takes place annually within the Polo Field and the surrounding meadows of Golden Gate Park. This multi-day music and arts festival features stages named after local landmarks and draws tens of thousands of visitors to the park each August. The festival grounds occupy terrain that was originally part of a vast, sandy, and windswept landscape of dunes known to nineteenth-century San Franciscans as the Outside Lands.
