Pioneer Mother (Grafly)

The Pioneer Mother is a bronze sculpture by Charles Grafly that stands in the park’s Pioneer Meadow, near the intersection of Stow Lake and John Fitzgerald Kennedy drives. The monument depicts a woman dressed in buckskin and moccasins accompanied by two young children. Its base is decorated with symbols of the American West, including cacti, pine cones, and carvings of a sailing vessel and transcontinental trails.
