Spreckels Temple of Music

The Spreckels Temple of Music is a towering bandshell with an acoustically reflective coffered dome that reaches seventy feet into the air. Built of Colusa sandstone, the structure is defined by its Italian Renaissance style and two relief sculptures by Robert Ingersoll Aitken that feature a lyre and a trumpet. It was dedicated on September ninth, nineteen hundred, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of California Admission Day.
