Jazz Workshop

At four hundred seventy-three Broadway sits a narrow storefront that once held the Jazz Workshop, a club that defined the modern jazz scene in North Beach from nineteen fifty-seven through the late nineteen sixties. This venue became a primary destination for touring musicians including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Thelonious Monk. Audiences sat only a few feet away from these performers, creating an intimate environment that resulted in numerous famous live recordings.
