Sydney G. Walton Square

Sydney G. Walton Square is a two-acre park defined by its perimeter of earthen berms, which separate the green space from the surrounding city streets. Designed by landscape architect Peter Walker and completed in the nineteen sixties, the park was conceived as an alpine meadow nestled within the high-rise buildings and townhouses of the Golden Gateway development. An old masonry archway stands within the park, covered in ivy; this is the Colombo Market arch, the last surviving structure from the produce district that once occupied this land.
