Casebolt House

The Casebolt House stands back from the street on a slight rise, a striking white Italianate manor that distinguishes itself from the surrounding neighborhood with its age and its solitary posture. Built in eighteen sixty-five by Virginia-born blacksmith and transit tycoon Henry Casebolt, the house sits on what was once a rural road leading through Cow Hollow toward Washerwoman’s Lagoon. While the area eventually transformed into the dense residential district of Pacific Heights, the house remained in its original location as one of the oldest residences in the vicinity.
