Starr King Test Plot

The Starr King Test Plot sits as a sloped, three and a half acre stretch of native grassland on the heights of Potrero Hill. Bounded by twenty-third and Carolina streets, the land serves as a remnant of the serpentine ecosystem that once extended across much of the city. While the area now provides sweeping views of the downtown skyline and the distant hills, it spent decades as an unpaved, working-class pasture where residents raised rabbits and goats.
