New Langton Arts

New Langton Arts began in nineteen seventy-five as an artist-run laboratory located at eighty Langton Street, later moving to twelve forty-six Folsom Street in nineteen eighty-three. It emerged as a center for experimental work in performance, installation, video, and language poetry at a time when these forms lacked support in mainstream museums. The organization was built on a model of artist control, providing a public platform where living artists could produce and present work that challenged conventional boundaries.
