Sunnyside Conservatory

The Sunnyside Conservatory is a two-story wooden structure defined by its central octagonal core. Built around nineteen hundred two by British inventor William Augustus Merralls, the building originally housed a collection of exotic plants on what was then a rural estate. Merralls, an engineer who designed mining equipment, surrounded the redwood conservatory with a landscape of trees and shrubs so dense that later residents famously rediscovered the building only after chasing a pet into the thicket.
