Pan American Unity

Pan American Unity is a massive fresco measuring twenty-two feet high and seventy-four feet wide, composed of ten steel-framed panels that weigh over sixty thousand pounds in total. The mural depicts a sweeping panorama that connects scenes of pre-conquest Mesoamerican life with the industrial development of the modern United States. At its center stands a towering figure combining the Aztec earth goddess Coatlicue with contemporary machinery, a design meant to express the artist’s vision of a shared future for North America.
