Balboa High School (California)

Balboa High School is a sprawling campus of cream-colored stucco buildings built in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Designed around a central quadrangle, it features arched arcades, mission-style roof tiles, and an indoor-outdoor layout intended to provide students with fresh air and sunlight. The school was constructed in three phases between nineteen twenty-seven and nineteen thirty-one, representing a period of rapid expansion when the city built forty-nine new schools to accommodate a surging population.
