The intersection of Castro and Eighteenth streets is marked by four permanent, brightly colored crosswalks. These stripes, painted in the colors of the rainbow flag, were installed in September twenty-fourteen as part of a larger streetscape improvement project overseen by the city’s Department of Public Works.
