Casa de la Guerra stands out for its thick white adobe walls and classic red-tiled roof. Constructed between eighteen eighteen and eighteen twenty-eight, it served as the home for José de la Guerra, the fifth comandante of the local Presidio, and his wife, Maria Antonia Carrillo. During the Mexican period, this residence functioned as the central hub for the political and social life of Santa Barbara.
