Arlington Theatre

The Arlington Theatre is distinguished by its tower, which rises above State Street and is capped by an art deco finial. This Spanish Colonial and Mission Revival landmark opened in nineteen thirty-one, built on the site of the former Arlington Hotel. That hotel, a center of city life for decades, suffered catastrophic damage during the great nineteen twenty-five earthquake and was eventually demolished.
