The Hill-Carrillo Adobe, located at eleven East Carrillo Street, stands as a low-slung, white-walled structure that marks a significant transition in California construction. Built in eighteen twenty-six by Daniel Hill, a merchant from Massachusetts, it was one of the first homes in the local pueblo to feature imported glass windows and rare wooden floors rather than the standard packed earth.
