Santa Barbara County Courthouse Gardens

The Santa Barbara County Courthouse Gardens are set within a block of downtown Santa Barbara, anchored by a prominent four-story clock tower and expansive Spanish Colonial Revival buildings. The garden area is defined by the Sunken Garden, a wide, flat lawn positioned several feet below the surrounding street level. This depression follows the footprint of an eighteen seventy-two Greek Revival courthouse that stood here until a nineteen twenty-five earthquake leveled much of the city.
