Rising fifty feet above Daley Plaza, this monumental untitled sculpture is crafted from Cor-Ten steel, the same weathered, rusted-brown material used for the exterior of the Richard J. Daley Center nearby. The structure weighs one hundred sixty-two tons and features distinct, angular steel planes that have invited decades of speculation about their form. While some observers have likened the abstract design to an Afghan hound, a baboon, or a bird, the artist Pablo Picasso never offered an official explanation for what the work represents.
