The Old Absinthe House occupies a stucco building at the corner of Bourbon and Bienville streets, dating to approximately eighteen oh six. Originally constructed for an importing firm to trade tobacco and liquor, the ground floor transitioned into a saloon around eighteen thirty-six. It eventually gained fame as the place where bartender Cayetano Ferrer concocted the absinthe house frappe in eighteen seventy-four.
