Treme's Petit Jazz Museum

Treme’s Petit Jazz Museum occupies a small, cozy space at fifteen hundred Governor Nicholls Street, filled with photographs, musical instruments, and archival documents. Founded in twenty seventeen by Al Jackson, a Treme native and historian, the museum offers a guided experience that connects the origins of jazz to global history. Jackson traces the music's evolution back thousands of years, linking it to instruments from ancient Egypt and the cultural blending that occurred across the Caribbean before arriving in the Treme neighborhood and Congo Square.
