The site at one thousand twenty St. Ann Street is where Marie Laveau, the woman widely known as the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, lived and raised her family. Between eighteen thirty-nine and eighteen eighty-one, this address was the location of a simple cottage where Laveau practiced her craft. While the original structure was demolished in nineteen oh three, the current building sits on the same ground that served as her home and a sanctuary for those who sought her help.
