New England Aquarium

The New England Aquarium is defined by its brutalist concrete exterior and the cylindrical, four-story Giant Ocean Tank that occupies its core. Opened on June twentieth, nineteen sixty-nine, the aquarium was a central part of the city’s effort to revitalize the Boston waterfront. It was conceived as one of the world's first modern aquariums, with the massive two hundred thousand-gallon tank built first so the rest of the facility could rise around it.
