Allen's Landing Park

Allen’s Landing Park sits at the confluence of Buffalo Bayou and White Oak Bayou, a place marked by a concrete wharf and steps that descend toward the water. This spot served as the original Port of Houston, acting as the head of navigation for the city in the nineteenth century. Developers John Kirby Allen and Augustus Chapman Allen staked their claim on this land in August eighteen thirty-six, choosing the natural turning basin created by the intersection of the two bayous to dock their vessels.
