Heritage Plaza is identifiable by the stepped, granite crown at its top, designed to mimic the appearance of a Mayan pyramid. Completed in nineteen eighty-seven, this fifty-three-story postmodern skyscraper stands seven hundred sixty-two feet tall. It was the final major office tower constructed in downtown Houston before a decade-long collapse in the regional oil and real estate markets left much of the city's new office space vacant.
