Dean's Downtown

Dean's Downtown at three hundred sixteen Main Street stands out for the vintage neon sign hanging outside, which has marked the building since its days as a mid-twentieth-century clothing store. Built in eighteen ninety-three as the Kiam building, the five-story structure was once the tallest in Houston and served as the city's first department store to use steel-frame construction. At the time of its opening, it was also the most electrified building in the country.
