The Assembly Hall on Collins Street is defined by its rock-faced sandstone facade and Gothic Revival styling, designed to sit in architectural harmony with the adjacent Scots' Church. Built by the Swanson Brothers and opened in nineteen fifteen, the structure stands on land that once held the original church manse. Its tall, narrow profile and ornate stonework were the work of architect Henry H. Kemp, who aimed to create a building that reflected the stature of the Presbyterian Church in Victoria at the time.
