The Chinese Mission Church at one hundred and ninety-six Little Bourke Street is a narrow, two-story brick building that carries the distinct visual imprint of late nineteenth-century industrial architecture, standing out with its pointed arch windows and patterned brickwork. Built in eighteen seventy-two by the Wesleyan Methodists, the structure was designed by architects Crouch and Wilson to serve as a religious and social base within the growing Chinatown quarter.
